The Bachelor degrees given by the faculty
CairoUniversity offers, based on the faculty of mass communication’s request, the Bachelor degree in mass communication in the following specializations:
1- Journalism
2- Broadcasting and Television
3- Public Relations and marketing
4- Mass communication -English section program
5- Online Journalism program
6- Mass communication program in the open education system
The study system
1. The study in the Bachelor program depends on the Credit Hours system. One credit hour represents one theoretical lecture per week and two hours practical per week for labs, work-shops and training. The semester consists from 16 weeks.
2. It takes 4 years to obtain a Bachelor degree from the faculty of mass communication. The university year consists from two semesters based on the evaluation approved from Cairo university. The mid-year vacation which takes place between the two semesters is two weeks long. There is a possibility to offer an intensive summer semester with a maximum of two courses (6 CreditHours).
3. A student must pass 132 Credit Hours in the 4 years of study (8semesters) with an average of 33 Credit Hours per year. Each course represents3 Hours. The total number of courses required is 44 courses.
4. Each student must register at the beginning of each semester the courses he/she would like to take. The maximum number of Credit Hours per week is 18 hours (6 courses). Itis possible to exceed this limit to 21 Credit Hours per week for lettingthestudent graduate in the same semester.

The study in the faculty of mass communication is divided into to levels;
First level: it consists from two semesters. The student learns about some general courses , the faculty requirements and introductory courses about the three major faculty departments
Second Level: it is a one-year period.It consists from 6 semesters in which students are obliged to specialize in one of the faculty’s departments (Journalism- Broadcasting and Television- PublicRelations and Marketing).
To obtain a Bachelor degree (BA.) in mass communication in one of the specializations the faculty offers, a student needs to pass 132 Credit Hours as follows:

The highest honors is given to students who provided all the graduation requirements with a GPA of 3.6 and the second
The high honors is given to students with a GPA from 3.4 and less than 3.6 with no prior failure in any course.
