Dr. Laila Abdel-Meguid: We started preparing to qualify for international accreditation two years ago, and we succeeded in working in a team spirit and encouraging and supporting the university administration to enable us to compete with our technological capabilities and human resources.





Cairo University, headed by Dr. Muhammad Othman ElKhosht, continues its achievements at the international level, within the framework of its transformation into fourth generation universities.

The Faculty of Mass Communication, Cairo University, has obtained international accreditation from the German AQAS Foundation, to be the first Egyptian Mass Communication Faculty whose academic programs and scientific departments have all been internationally accredited, within the framework of the university’s faculties continuing their academic, educational and research achievements internationally.

The team of the German Authority for International Accreditation, who visited the faculty as part of the international accreditation procedures, praised the infrastructure and equipment of the faculty for the educational process and practical training, including studios, laboratories and a printing press. They praised the level of students and graduates and the close relations between the faculty and the labor market.

Dr. Mohamed Othman ElKhosht, President of Cairo University, said that the Faculty of Mass Communication’s obtaining international accreditation from the German AQAS institution represents an international reference assessment of quality in media education, and confirms the faculty’s distinguished competitive position at the international level in the field of academic media, and thus contributes to raising the university’s position in the global rankings. 

The President of the University congratulated the family of the Faculty of Mass Communication for the great effort exerted to advance the Faculty and upgrade it to qualify it to obtain German accreditation.

Dr. Muhammad ElKhosht pointed out that the Faculty of Mass Communication is the first to lay the foundations for scientific studies and scientific research in the media field, and it is the basis of media faculties in the Arab world and the Middle East, and it contributed to the establishment of all media faculty and its departments in many Egyptian and Arab universities, praising its keenness on continuous development to bridge the knowledge gap with advanced universities in the world, and to provide a guiding model for other faculties.

For her part, Dr. Hanan Gunaid, Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication, explained that the German delegation from the AQAS Foundation for international accreditation met Dr. Muhammad El-Khosht at the beginning of their evaluation visit, and a lengthy discussion took place about media issues and challenges, the role of the faculty, the university's strategy and vision, and the achievements made in the faculty in recent years, and the readiness of the faculty’s educational environment in terms of the efforts of educational activities in all its scientific departments, its educational, community, academic and research role, the readiness of the faculty’s laboratories, studios and libraries, and the nature of the faculty’s centers, pointing out that the Faculty of Mass Communication, Cairo University, is the first faculty to apply for the international accreditation file. Its efforts in preparing for it were complemented by the local accreditation it obtained years ago from the National Authority for Education Quality.

Dr. Hanan Gunaid added that our international accreditation is the culmination of the concerted efforts of the Faculty family and the unlimited support provided by Dr. Muhammad Othman El-Khosht, President of the University, which puts on all of us the responsibility of preserving this historical achievement and commitment to the university's strategy, and achieving sustainable development to build the new republic.

Dr. Laila Abdel-Meguid said that the Faculty of Mass Communication began qualifying for international accreditation two years ago, with its success in winning a development project by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. With providing all aspects of care and support, from the university administration represented by Dr. El-Khosht, the president of the university, and from the faculty administration represented by Dr. Hanan Gunaid, dean of the faculty, and the concerted efforts of all faculty employees without exception, stressing that the faculty’s obtaining international accreditation is the result of teamwork and the spirit of one family.

It is worth noting that Dr. Muhammad El-Khosht had earlier received a delegation from the AQAS Foundation for international accreditation. The meeting dealt with several aspects, the most important of which is the efforts of the Faculty of Mass Communication in upgrading its educational and research system, in addition to the achievements made by the university during the last 5 years, including the progress of Cairo University in the field of Digital education at the level of all faculties, keenness on specific privacy and benefiting from the elements of progress, the creation of many colleges to keep pace with future jobs, its unprecedented progress in international classifications, its production of 22% of scientific research throughout its history, and its success in reaching its scientific journals to a prominent position at the local and international level.
