MCCU participates in activities of 19th meeting of Association of Arab Media Faculties Union in Jordan

This morning, the nineteenth meeting of the institutions of the Association of Arab Universities took place, which will be held from March 11 to 12, 2023, and is hosted by the Middle East University in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, with the participation of 19 Arab universities from Egypt, Algeria, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The meeting dealt with a review of all the efforts made and the annual activity of the institution during the year 2022, as the Faculty of Mass Communication, Cairo University, represented by Prof. Dr. Hanan Gunaid, Secretary General of the Association of Arab Media Faculties, participated.

At the beginning of the session activities, Dr. Salam Mahadbin, President of the Middle East University, delivered a welcoming speech in which he expressed his great happiness for the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan hosting the activities of the nineteenth meeting with the participation of Arab universities.

Prof. Dr. Hanan Junaid, Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Media Faculties, indicated that the session dealt with what took place during the meeting of the Executive Committee on October 19, 2022, where the most prominent axes of the meeting came at the time in following up the position of the scientific journal issued by the association after fulfilling the conditions and publishing and submitting research, on the Dar Al-Mandumah and the website of the Academy of Scientific Research (Knowledge Bank), and maintaining the evaluation of the Supreme Council of Universities (7 degrees), which is the highest degree in the classification according to the impact factor issued and in force since June 1, 2022.

Prof. Dr. Hanan Gunaid, Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Media Colleges, added that the meeting presented an assessment of the association's participation in the conference of the Faculty of Information, Cairo University, which was held during May 2022, and praise for that participation and continued cooperation in this field, and to review the proposals of the members of the association on how to activate the activities The association is online and the activation of participation by members in some webinars and workshops actually and the agreement with Head of the Media Department at Mostaganem University in Algeria to activate the first of these seminars during February 2023 at the association’s headquarters in the Faculty of Mass Communication, Cairo University, to discuss many topics, including: evaluating the activities that took place in 2022, including issuing the eighth issue and printing the ninth issue of the association’s magazine in two parts, and discussing increasing the association’s resources In addition to urging the participating colleges to pay the annual subscription.

Prof. Dr. Hanan Gunaid, Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication, indicated that the meeting dealt with several points, including the active participation in scientific conferences held by the faculties of mass media in Egyptian universities, including the twenty-seventh scientific conference of the Faculty of Mass Communication, Cairo University, entitled Challenges of Arab Media in Light of Sustainable Development Plans Towards Future Visions for Reform and Development May 29-30, 2022.

Prof. Dr. Hanan Gunaid, Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication, Cairo University and Secretary General of the Federation of Arab Media Faculties, explained that the meeting dealt with the report on holding the twenty-seventh scientific conference of the Faculty of Mass Communication, Cairo University, entitled Challenges of Arab Media in Light of Sustainable Development Plans Toward Future Visions for Reform and Development 29-30 May 2022, where the conference discussed in the first axis issues of democratization, financial and economic reform, social empowerment, support for political reform issues, the media dimensions in the Egyptian strategy for human rights, the ethics and legislation of the Arab media, the different Arab and international experiences in the field of supporting human rights, and focusing on the Arab media and national security from Where the effects of false and fabricated news on national security and hate speech in the media and how to confront it and the dangers of electronic media on national security and the laws and regulations governing the protection of information security.

In the conclusion of her speech, Prof. Dr. Hanan Gunaid, Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication, indicated that the Association of Arab Media Faculties Association was able to face the most prominent challenges and obstacles that it encountered during the year 2022, which were represented in the effects of the Corona epidemic on the activities and events of the Association during the first half of the year 2022, which is what This led to the cancellation of many activities that were planned to involve students from all Arab countries in its programs and activities, noting that this has ended and the association has resumed its work and activities vigorously since December 2022. 

Prof. Dr. Hanan Gunaid, Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication, Cairo University, presented a number of future proposals at the end of her speech, represented in holding many events to be held in February 2023 as a start for the faculty’s activities in the new year on media education in Arab societies and contemporary technology, issuing the tenth and eleventh issues of the Association magazine of Media faculties during the year 2023, participating in the annual international conference of the Faculty, which is scheduled to be held during May 2023 as an official sponsor, as well as participating in the scientific conferences of the Faculty of Mass Communication at the Modern University for Technology and Information and Pharos University in Alexandria and the scientific conference of Al-Ahram Canadian University, while expressing readiness to participate in scientific conferences Which are held by the faculties and departments of media in the Arab world, with determining the contributions of the association in those conferences, increasing the membership of colleges and departments of media in the Arab world with increasing active participation in the activities of the association by attending or hosting these events or (online).

In turn, Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities, praised the activities of the Association of the Association of Arab Media Faculties and the unprecedented role of the Faculty of Mass Communication, calling for the necessity of the participation of the Faculty of Mass Communication, Cairo University, in the International Conference for Education Development, on May 3, to present the experience of the Faculty of Mass Communication, Cairo University in the field of digital transformation.
