The Faculty of Mass Communication, Cairo University is organizing its 27th International Scientific Conference on: “The Challenges of the Arab Media in the Light of Sustainable Development Plans. Towards Future Visions for Reform and Development”, from May 29-30, under the patronage of Dr. Mohamed Othman Elkhosht, President of the University, and headed by Dr. Howaida Mustafa Dean of the College, and the General Secretariat of the Conference is held by Dr. Wissam Nasr, Vice Dean of the College for Postgraduate Studies and Research.


Dr. Howaida Mustafa, Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication at Cairo University, said that the conference seeks to discuss scientifically the challenges facing the Arab media at various levels that may hinder the achievement of the sustainable development plan, and a group of researchers and experts in media, politics, economy, culture and society will participate in the conference to present visions and strategies for reform and development. .

Dr. Wissam Nasr said that the conference includes 7 axes revolving around the media, issues of reform, human rights, national security, health and educational media challenges, issues of terrorism, support for sustainable development plans and environmental media.

The first axis discusses issues of democratic transition, financial and economic reform, social empowerment and support for political reform issues. The second axis is concerned with the media dimensions of the Egyptian strategy for human rights, as well as the ethics and legislation of Arab media and the various Arab and international experiences in the field of human rights support. The third axis focuses on Arab media. And national security, in terms of the effects of fake and fabricated news on national security, hate speech in the media and how to confront it, the dangers of electronic media on national security, and the laws and legislations regulating the protection of information security.

The fourth axis revolves around the challenges of health and educational media in the light of sustainable development plans, especially during crises, as well as the scientific presentation of digital media applications in the field of education and the development of its system.
