Prof. Hanan Gunaid: The workshop examines mechanisms for verifying misleading media content and detecting information verification tools

Under the auspices of Prof. Hanan Gunaid, Acting Dean of the Faculty of mass communication and the faculty’s Undersecretary for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs , the activities of the third training course "Fake News and Media Misinformation" was launched in cooperation with the German Friedrich Naumann Foundation, which is held during this period in the Faculty of mass communication , Cairo University ، and a group of college professors, media professionals and experts in information security are lecturing in it.

The course aims to review practical training on methods of detecting counterfeiting, methods of investigation, auditing and verifying the authenticity of information, forms and means of forgery, and mechanisms to counter false news and suspicion and dismantle the structure of misinformation ، In addition to providing the trainees with information on the concept of false news in the light of the digital environment, the factors affecting its spread and its effects on community security, the training course concludes with the trainees presenting a practical project on ways of confrontation legally, socially and electronically . 


In the opening of the activities of today's workshop, Prof. Hanan Gunaid, Acting Dean of the Faculty of mass communication, welcomed in her opening speech Professor Hani Abdel Malak, Director of Egypt's Programs, Friedrich Naumann Foundation, and the attendees from media professionals and researchers in various media fields. 

The dean indicated that today's workshop is one of the academic professional meetings that included discussions with media personnel from journalists and those who are in press institutions about their experiences dealing with content and identifying the means of media misinformation that appear in the production of content spread through the pages of social media sites.

Today's activities in the workshop included a discussion session on mechanisms for controlling media content and dealing with publishing news and information and methods of verification, chaired by Dr. Mahmoud Youssef who is a professor of public relations and former agent of community affairs and environmental development.
